Test Engineer – Superconducting Electronics

Is it you we’re looking for?

imec USA’s Florida-based R&D Center focuses on pioneering superconducting electronics for next-generation applications. We develop new sustainable technologies addressing the growing energy needs of data centers, AI, and high-performance computing.

Superconducting digital technology is one of the potential new solutions to deliver data center-scale compute power at 100x better energy efficiency in small-volume systems. Leveraging imec’s core expertise in semiconductor scaling, heterogeneous integration, and system development, imec is pioneering superconducting solutions for decentralized, autonomous AI systems, enabling revolutionary AI architectures with unique capabilities.

We are seeking a motivated and talented early-career Test Engineer for Superconducting Electronics. In this position, you will contribute to the testing and characterization of superconducting electronic devices.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a full-stack, cross-site development team integrated across Kissimmee, Florida, and Leuven, Belgium. We are working on all aspects of this new digital technology, from developing a new superconducting process using state-of-the-art 300mm silicon wafer BEOL technology to circuit design, system architecture, and software optimization.

What you will do

  • Take responsibility for maintaining and updating automated test software drivers and scripts.
  • Configure test hardware for DC, RF, and digital testing.
  • Contribute to the measurement and characterization of superconducting electronic devices.
  • Improve and optimize existing design and characterization methodologies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with design and hardware-to-model team leads to solve test and data-processing bottlenecks.
  • Contribute to funded and bilateral projects through their definition and execution, depending on your level of experience and expertise.
  • Report results to colleagues and customers.
  • Contribute to publications in international journals and conferences.

Who you are

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • You have experience in device measurement and characterization.
  • You have strong programming skills, with experience in Python.
  • You have experience with software control of laboratory instruments.
  • You have good communication skills and are comfortable interfacing with internal and external customers.
  • You are able to take initiative and work independently while being part of a collaborative team.
  • You are pragmatic and hands-on, with a can-do attitude.

The following qualifications are considered a plus:

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with database management and hardware-to-model correlation.
  • Experience working in an R&D environment.

What we do for you

In exchange for your skills, passion, and expertise, you will join an organization with various challenges. Our working environment provides opportunities to take initiative and grow in responsibility. This is your chance to contribute to technology that will influence the society of tomorrow.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team within an international culture and have opportunities for continuous learning and professional development. Your contributions and those of your colleagues help make imec a world leader in its field.

As expected from a leading organization, we offer an attractive compensation and benefits package to reward your efforts.
