Student project: Quadrature Oscillator with Novel Active Inductors

What you will do

  • Investigate active inductor circuit parameters for lowest possible noise and tunability.
  • Design a quadrature oscillator circuit in CMOS with quadrature outputs.
  • Also investigate if more than stages can be used to create a ring oscillator.
  • Investigate how the power consumption can be reduced while keeping noise low.
  • Do physical layout, extract layout parasitics and optimize the circuit.

What we do for you

You will learn radio frequency integrated oscillator design and trade-offs.

Who you are

  • Basic knowledge CMOS circuits.
  • Understanding of radio frequency concepts.
  • Understanding how noise is related to MOSFET bias.
  • You will need to study Oscillator phase noise concepts and relate them to design parameters.
