As an intern, you will be part of a team of experts in the field of sensors and system development, and will participate in multidisciplinary research on exploring new sensing principles and materials, and developing of miniaturized liquid sensors for different application scenarios.
You will be involved in the sensor fabrication and functionalization in a multidisciplinary laboratory and the characterization of the sensors to validate its performance on aspects such as sensitivity, selectivity, reproducibility and lifetime. The choice of ions, metabolites and sensing platform to be investigated will be based on a wide range of applications.
The following activities will be included in your project:
IMEC the Netherlands at Holst Centre is developing sensing technologies for detection of ions and metabolites for various applications including Organ on Chip (OoC) and Artificial Organ (AO). Miniaturized liquid sensing devices developed in house, which are based on solid-state micro fabricated electrodes functionalized with selective materials, and will be integrated into a sensing platform for multi-parameter analysis (like ions and metabolites in buffer solutions and cell culture medium).
The integrated miniaturized liquid sensing devices have shown their strong advantages in performing real-time multiplexed measurement in low sample volume. The aim of this project is to find solutions to extend sensitivity, stability and lifetime of the sensor for continuous operation in complex biological medium for OoC and AO applications.
