What you will do

As R&D Manager Embedded Software, you will lead and develop two embedded software teams in Eindhoven and Wageningen. You combine people leadership, technical vision and operational excellence to help bring breakthrough technologies from research into solutions that improve healthcare, connectivity and everyday life.

You will:

  • Lead, coach and develop talented embedded software engineers and technical leaders, enabling them to do their best work and grow their careers. 
  • Drive staffing, recruitment and capability development to build diverse, future-ready teams. 
  • Guide project execution, resource planning and engineering excellence across multiple R&D programs. 
  • Shape the embedded software competence roadmap, aligned with future technologies and market opportunities. 
  • Build strong, inclusive collaboration with researchers, project leaders and business stakeholders to translate innovation into real-world impact.

By joining our R&D team in the Netherlands, you will work with disruptive innovators and thinkers. Together with your teams, you will develop embedded software for intelligent systems, mostly based on imec technology, like novel sensor and future communication technologies, Edge AI chips, photonics and medical technology 

Who you are

  • MSc in Embedded Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field. 
  • Strong experience (10+ years) in embedded software development and a proven track record of leading and developing engineering teams (+/- 3 years people management). 
  • Strong technical background in modern embedded software systems, architectures, tools and development processes. 
  • Passionate about building, coaching and growing engineering teams in an international high-tech environment. 
  • You build trust, create alignment and help teams succeed through coaching, collaboration and clear direction. 
  • Able to balance long-term technology vision with day-to-day delivery, decision-making and execution. 
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic R&D environment while maintaining engineering quality, structure and rigor. 
  • Experience with embedded Linux, real-time systems, connectivity, IoT, Edge AI or similar software-intensive environments is highly valued. 
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to connect technology, people and business goals. 
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus. 
  • Willing to work across both the Eindhoven and Wageningen locations and occasionally visit Leuven.
