Drive the architectural direction of our Mobile Systems-on-Chip reference platform

System Architect Mobile SoC

What you will do

We are seeking an experienced and visionary System Architect to lead the architectural direction of our Mobile Systems-on-Chip (SoC) reference platform. This role will be responsible for defining and maintaining a long-term roadmap, tightly linked to our semiconductor technology research. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of mobile SoC design and the ability to anticipate and shape future industry trends. This is a unique opportunity to influence the technological trajectory of the ecosystem.

The core responsibilities of this position include developing and owning the overall SoC specifications and architecture, encompassing CPU, GPU, memory subsystems, connectivity, security features, and power management. This requires establishing clear architectural guidelines aligned with imec’s technology roadmaps and stakeholders. You’ll lead architectural reviews, and collaborate closely with various teams including software, architecture and micro-architecture, logic, memory technology and communication fabrics. Furthermore, a significant portion of the role involves proactively researching emerging technologies and anticipating shifts in the competitive landscape to inform the long-term roadmap.

What we do for you

We offer you the opportunity to join one of the world’s premier research centers in nanotechnology at its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. With your talent, passion and expertise, you’ll become part of a team that makes the impossible possible. Together, we shape the technology that will determine the society of tomorrow.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and proud of our open, multicultural, and informal working environment with ample possibilities to take initiative and show responsibility. We commit to supporting and guiding you in this process; not only with words but also with tangible actions. Through imec.academy, 'our corporate university', we actively invest in your development to further your technical and personal growth.

We are aware that your valuable contribution makes imec a top player in its field. Your energy and commitment are therefore appreciated by means of a market appropriate salary with many fringe benefits.

Who you are

A strong foundation in system architecture is required, coupled with demonstrable experience in a design or design leadership role within the semiconductor industry, specifically focused on mobile SoC development. Deep knowledge of RISC-V and ARM architectures, and different GPU or NPU architectures would be a significant advantage.

This role demands excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. The candidate must be adept at influencing cross-functional teams and driving consensus around architectural decisions.

IMEC and its affiliates will not accept unsolicited resumes from any source other than directly from a candidate. IMEC will consider unsolicited referrals and/or resumes submitted by vendors such as search firms, staffing agencies, professional recruiters, fee-based referral services and recruiting agencies (hereafter “Agency”) to have been referred by the Agency free of charge. IMEC will not pay a fee to any Agency that does not have a prior written agreement with IMEC, validated by its HR department, in place regarding a specific job opening and allowing to submit resumes.
