Student project: Designing an electromagnetic pressure monitoring system for glaucoma

Making the first remotely read sensor to control surgically implanted drainage devices for managing elevated intraocular pressure.

*Important for non-EU students: You’ll need to be registered at a Dutch university to meet immigration requirements.

What you will do

  • Compare different sensing solutions, all based on resonant, inductively coupled circuits
  • Also compare with a coupled circuit, including a diode, to perform sensing on higher harmonic frequencies
  • Use freeware quasistatic simulation software for the comparison
  • Make scaled prototypes and perform measurements
  • Make real size prototype and characterize

What we do for you

You'll be part of a team active in RF (integrated) solutions for inductive Wireless Power Transfer. Our projects are related to powering biomedical implants. We'll transform theoretical analysis to real applications. You'll learn to work on solutions that are subject to practical constraints. The project will be supervised in cooperation with the EE and ME departments of TU/e.

Who you are

You are a student with a background in electrotechnical engineering with at least a basic understanding of electromagnetics.
