Silicon Photonics Qualification Engineer
Are you ready to plan & execute the reliability assessment of the Silicon Photonics?
The assignment
You will be primarily responsible for carefully planning and executing the reliability assessment of Silicon Photonics components and systems, including optical devices and interconnects. As a secondary responsibility, you will support reliability activities for other programs and researchers within the lab when the workload from Silicon Photonics projects is lower. The role involves managing multiple parallel projects and delivering results according to deadlines.
Your responsibilities involve:
- Plan and schedule reliability tests for Silicon Photonics projects, in particular EM and HTOL tests.
- Execute reliability experiments according to defined protocols and project timelines.
- Collect, organize, and perform initial analysis of test data.
- Ensure adherence to deadlines while managing multiple parallel reliability projects.
- Support reliability activities for other programs and researchers during periods of lower Silicon Photonics workload.
Required knowledge and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Python and/or LabVIEW for data processing and hardware control.
- Hands-on experience and eagerness to work in laboratory measurement setups.
- Ability to work independently and translate project requests into practical experimental execution.
- Strong team player with good networking and communication skills to collaborate in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
- Excellent command of English, given the international character of imec.
- Knowledge or experience with reliability failure mechanisms such as electromigration (EM), High-Temperature Operating Life (HTOL), Time-Dependent Dielectric Breakdown (TDDB)... is a plus
- On-site presence is mandatory, as the role involves direct handling and testing of lab equipment.
