Portfolio Manager – ASIC Technologies & Solutions

What you will do

As Portfolio Manager, you will help shape and drive IC‑Link’s mid to long‑term strategy for ASIC technologies and solutions. You will translate market needs into clear portfolio directions and ensure that IC‑Link is positioned with the right offerings—ranging from ASIC design methodologies to manufacturing in advanced nodes, chiplets, 3D integration and packaging technologies.

In this role, you will:

  • Define a technology and solution roadmap aligned with semiconductor market trends, customer needs, and imec’s strategic direction.
  • Build and maintain a deep understanding of the ASIC market, including design ecosystems, IP landscapes, foundry scaling roadmaps, chiplet/3D integration, and advanced packaging technologies.
  • Identify market gaps and opportunities, assess value creation, and drive portfolio investment recommendations with solid business cases.
  • Engage with customers, partners, and the ecosystem to validate needs and gather insights that shape IC‑Link’s offering.
  • Develop clear value propositions and positioning for the portfolio, ensuring strong differentiation and alignment with customer applications.
  • Act as business owner for new portfolio assets: define requirements, monitor execution, manage risks, and ensure readiness for market introduction.
  • Collaborate with technical teams across design, packaging, test, manufacturing, and 3D integration to ensure feasibility and competitive advantage.
  • Support the commercial phase by joining customer discussions, shaping specifications, and guiding account teams in the value articulation.
  • Represent the portfolio in external forums—industry events, partner workshops, and customer engagements.
  • Continuously refine the portfolio based on market traction, feedback, competitive developments, and technology evolution.

What we do for you

We offer you the opportunity to join one of the world’s premier research centers in nanotechnology at its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. With your talent, passion and expertise, you’ll become part of a team that makes the impossible possible. Together, we shape the technology that will determine the society of tomorrow.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and proud of our open, multicultural, and informal working environment with ample possibilities to take initiative and show responsibility. We commit to supporting and guiding you in this process; not only with words but also with tangible actions. Through imec.academy, 'our corporate university', we actively invest in your development to further your technical and personal growth.

We are aware that your valuable contribution makes imec a top player in its field. Your energy and commitment are therefore appreciated by means of a market appropriate salary with many fringe benefits.

Who you are

You are a strategic thinker with strong technical affinity for semiconductor technologies and a passion for shaping future ASIC capabilities. You bring:

  • A technical degree in electronics, IC design, physics, computer engineering or related field; business experience or MBA‑level understanding is a strong asset.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the semiconductor or ASIC domain—portfolio management, product management, business development, IP strategy, or similar roles.
  • Solid understanding of the ASIC value chain, including design flows, foundry ecosystems, manufacturing processes, and technology scaling.
  • Knowledge of the global IP ecosystem with an existing or emerging network of IP houses, design service companies, and EDA partners.
  • Experience with advanced CMOS nodes, chiplet/heterogeneous integration, 2.5D/3D technologies, and advanced packaging (e.g., CoWoS, InFO, hybrid bonding, interposers).
  • Familiarity with semiconductor interface standards (PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, UCIe…) and SoC/heterogeneous system architectures.
  • Ability to translate complex customer needs into actionable portfolio strategy and clear value propositions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate business cases, prioritize opportunities, and make well‑grounded decisions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, comfortable interacting at both technical and executive levels.
  • A collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset, thriving in a cross‑functional and fast‑evolving environment.
