Research & development - Leuven | Just now

You will support customer-driven projects on advanced memory technologies through rigorous device characterization, clear communication and timely delivery.

Memory Device Engineer for Bilateral Projects

What you will do

Novel memory and selector technologies, including resistive memories, chalcogenide-based memories and selector devices, are attracting strong interest for future high-density, energy-efficient memory solutions and hardware platforms for data-intensive and AI-driven applications. Imec has built strong expertise in the integration, electrical characterization and reliability assessment of these device concepts, enabling close collaboration with industrial customers.
We are looking for an experienced device engineer to support device design and execute electrical characterization for bilateral customer projects. In this role, you will translate customer objectives into clear experimental plans, apply your knowledge of device physics, perform electrical characterization, reliability experiments and data analysis, and follow up on measurements and deliverables in a timely and structured way.

You will work closely with integration engineers, process engineers and design teams to ensure that device data are generated, analyzed and communicated according to project needs. You will also interact directly with customers by contributing to technical discussions, preparing updates and reports, and ensuring that commitments are followed up with the right level of quality and responsiveness. While a solid understanding of device physics and characterization remains important, the emphasis of this position is on rigorous technical execution, clear customer-oriented communication and timely delivery of high-quality results.

What we do for you

We offer you the opportunity to join one of the world’s premier research centers in nanotechnology at its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. With your talent, passion and expertise, you’ll become part of a team that makes the impossible possible. Together, we shape the technology that will determine the society of tomorrow.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and proud of our open, multicultural, and informal working environment with ample possibilities to take initiative and show responsibility. We commit to supporting and guiding you in this process; not only with words but also with tangible actions. Through imec.academy, 'our corporate university', we actively invest in your development to further your technical and personal growth.

We are aware that your valuable contribution makes imec a top player in its field. Your energy and commitment are therefore appreciated by means of a market appropriate salary with many fringe benefits.

Who you are

  • You have a master’s degree or a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, materials science, device physics or a related field, with relevant industrial experience or industrial collaboration experience.
  • You have hands-on experience with electrical characterization and data analysis of semiconductor devices; experience with memory or selector devices is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of resistive memories, chalcogenide-based memories, selector-only memories or selector devices is an asset, as is familiarity with reliability testing and interpretation of device-level results.
  • You work in a structured and rigorous way, with attention to quality, deadlines and clear documentation of experimental results.
  • You are experienced and comfortable with electrical characterization work in the lab.
  • You communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams and external customers, and are comfortable discussing technical results in a project-driven environment.
  • Given the international nature of imec, fluent English is a must.
