Market & Innovation Specialist – Health Applications

What you will do

imec is a world-leading research and innovation hub in nanoelectronics and digital technologies, developing solutions that address global challenges, including in healthcare. To strengthen the impact of our innovations, we are looking for a Market & innovation Specialist to join our team.

In this role, you will support the translation of imec’s advanced technologies into relevant healthcare applications. By gathering and translating user, stakeholder, and market needs into actionable input for technology development, you will contribute to the development of strategic roadmaps for disruptive health solutions and identify new application opportunities for existing technologies across imec’s sectors. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams of researchers, engineers, and market experts, facilitating the alignment between technological capabilities and market needs.

Key responsibilities  

  • Capturing user, stakeholder, and market needs (voice of the customer).
  • Perform market and desk research, including analysis of trends, stakeholders, and use cases.
  • Facilitate and support workshops and stakeholder interactions.
  • Identify and assess new application domains for existing imec technologies.
  • Translate market insights into structured input for technology development teams and in support of strategic roadmaps.
  • Translate technical information into clear, accessible value propositions for external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers and domain experts to ensure alignment between market and technology perspectives.

Who you are

Required background and experience  

  • Master’s degree in biomedical engineering, life sciences, healthcare, or a related discipline. A PhD is an asset.
  • Approximately 2 years of relevant experience (e.g. in healthcare innovation, consulting, research, or industry).
  • Experience in qualitative market research and customer interviews.
  • Strong affinity with the on the hand medical field and healthcare applications and on the other hand the market needs.

    • Ability to understand technical concepts at a high level and translate them into market-relevant value-proposition.
    • Ability to convert market needs into clear and actionable questions or requirements for R&D.

    • Ability to interact effectively with both technical experts and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strong facilitation skills, with the ability to organize and support workshops and collaborative sessions.
