Director, 2.5D and 3D Advanced Packaging Technologies 

What you will do

In this role, you will drive the development of advanced 2.5D and 3D packaging technologies from early research through platform deployment across imec organization. Acting as the primary representative of the expert community in these domains, you will align the needs of multiple business lines into a coherent and achievable technology roadmap, ensuring imec can successfully deliver on its medium- and long-term ambitions in advanced packaging.
This is a highly visible leadership position combining strategic vision, technical expertise, organizational influence, and cross-functional coordination.

As 2.5D & 3D Technologies Director, you will:

  • Gather and consolidate the technology needs of all business lines related to 2.5D and 3D integration and packaging.
  • Contribute actively to the technology and business strategy development of these business lines.
  • Define and maintain a roadmap that meets business objectives while balancing resource availability and organizational capabilities.
  • Drive roadmap execution by coordinating activities across the relevant technical groups and expertise centers.
  • Represent the organization’s 2.5D and 3D expertise in discussions with internal and external stakeholders and support the development of new business opportunities.
  • Initiate and shape projects that bridge strategic technology gaps and create synergies across programs.
  • Work closely with project leaders, managers, and experts to ensure successful delivery of roadmap milestones.
  • Identify organizational, technical, or resource gaps that may jeopardize roadmap execution and lead escalation activities when needed.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate key experts across the organization, fostering collaboration and enabling successful project execution.

Who you are

  • You hold at least 15 years of experience in semiconductor R&D, with significant expertise in advanced packaging, 2.5D integration, and/or 3D integration technologies.
  • You have a proven track record of leadership, including at least 5 years of experience leading large teams, complex programs, or major technology initiatives.
  • You are passionate about emerging technologies and motivated by the opportunity to shape their future.
  • You possess deep technical expertise in advanced packaging, 2.5D integration, and 3D integration technologies.
  • You are an inspiring people leader who enjoys developing talent and enabling teams to succeed.
  • You combine strategic thinking with strong execution skills and a results-oriented mindset.
  • You have excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills, allowing you to build alignment across diverse groups and interests.
  • You are living in Belgium or are willing to relocate (support provided).
