As the Team leader Shift Technicians you are responsible to lead on a day-to-day basis and in a 24/7 regime, the team of shift technicians in the FAIN department of imec.

What you will do

The FAIN (Facilities and Infrastructure) department has the mandate to develop, manage, maintain and operate buildings and facilities used to host and support imec core activities. The team of Shift Technicians is mainly responsible for the first line support on all building and process related topics.  

As a Team leader Shift Technicians, you report to the Service Delivery Manager for the imec facilities in Leuven. You play a key role in securing the first line of support for the facilities and buildings on the imec site in Leuven by: 

  • Leading and inspiring a team of shift technicians by creating a safe and diverse environment where the imec culture is a strong reality. At the same time be the ambassador of change in your team. 
  • Providing recognition and motivation for the shift technicians; represent the team in different forums
  • Being responsible for developing the team's competencies & performance as well as for succession planning in the unit, eg. by
    • Recruitment, on boarding and developing new team members
    • Organizing (and attending) training sessions for the team and develop innovative ways to train them (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, …)
  • Ensuring continuous and high-quality first line support upon technical alarms
  • Secure inspection/scan/test rounds (Total Production Management, etc.)
  • Doing the analysis (and drive actions) of the
    • quality & speed of the first line of support and 
    • results of the inspection/scan rounds
  • Supporting and initiating 8D root cause analyses 
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining a SPOC within each shift
  • Secure resource management for future expansion of imec (FAB4, imec6, …)
  • Coordinating, innovating & professionalizing the emergency/incident planning together with the EHS (environment, health, safety) department (AR, digitalization...)
  • Securing overall control room ergonomics (eg. screen buildup) & automation (eg. reliable alarm handling)

Who you are

  • You have a proven track record in leading a team of technicians, preferably in shifts. You are open, positive, accessible, and you go easily on social contacts. You are an inspirational team player
  • You have a critical and analytical mindset and a will to constantly improve the ways of working
  • You are service-minded & customer-oriented; you are hands-on and you ‘see work’; you are proactive and stress resistant
  • Your understanding, speaking and writing of Dutch & English is moderate to fluent
  • Moderate skills in digital solutions like Microsoft Office tools, CAFM/FMIS tools, SAP, … are a must — you’re eager to keep learning.
  • You can be on-site at least 4 days out of 5 and are willing to lead by example (in presence) at least once a month in each shift.
