Researcher for multi-physics simulations of qubit devices

What you will do

The quantum device team at imec works on qubit characterization, leveraging its world-class technological platform for integration of next-generation compute and memory devices. The activities of the team cover the electrical characterization, design and simulation of spin and superconducting qubit devices in close collaboration with integration engineers, thus covering all aspects of qubit technology. In the framework of an expansion of the activities of the quantum computing program, we are seeking a talented researcher to reinforce the activities related to qubit design and simulation. Together with your colleagues working on electrical characterization and device integration, your main responsibilities will be to develop a multiphysics-simulation platform targeting spin and superconducting qubit structures.

In particular, you will be involved in:

  • Modelling of Si-spin qubit devices taking into account device electrostatics, stress, micro-magnetics, band-structure and spin dynamics.
  • RF and circuit modelling of superconducting qubit devices, qubit dynamics.
  • Contribute on the device design process.

What we do for you

We offer you the opportunity to join one of the world’s premier research centers in nanotechnology at its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. With your talent, passion and expertise, you’ll become part of a team that makes the impossible possible. Together, we shape the technology that will determine the society of tomorrow.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and proud of our open, multicultural, and informal working environment with ample possibilities to take initiative and show responsibility. In everything we do, your future colleagues are guided by the imec values of passion, excellence, connectedness, and integrity. We commit to supporting and guiding you in this process, not only with words but also with tangible actions. Through imec.academy, 'our corporate university', we actively invest in your development to further your technical and personal growth.

We are aware that your valuable contribution makes imec a top player in its field. Your energy and commitment are therefore appreciated by means of a market appropriate salary with many fringe benefits.

Who you are

  • You have a PhD degree in physics, electrical engineering or related disciplines.
  • You have solid experience in quantum device physics and simulation, preferably on quantum dot devices and/or superconducting qubits.
  • You are able to communicate complex concepts efficiently with a didactic and rigorous approach.
  • You enjoy working in multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural teams.
