Project Lead Equipment Installation

What you will do

For the Málaga Fab 5 project, tool installations will be performed by the contractor. imec’s role focuses on safety oversight and validating that the installations conform to imec’s required standards and guidelines. That’s where you come in. Onboarding and training will take place in Leuven, Belgium until mid-2028, after which the position location will transfer to Málaga, Spain.

As Project Lead, your role combines contractor oversight, safety follow-up and installation conformity validation on behalf of imec.

The contractor is responsible for installation execution and day-to-day coordination of the installation works. You will monitor progress, review safety and quality matters, and coordinate interfaces with imec stakeholders, keeping a clear distinction between contractor execution and imec oversight.

Your focus is to validate conformity with imec’s installation standards, guidelines and safety requirements. You will review contractor deliverables and installation evidence, follow up deviations and corrective actions, and support installation acceptance by imec rather than directly managing execution.

You will:

  • Oversee contractor-led installations and coordinate interfaces with imec
  • Review contractor schedules and monitor progress against agreed milestones
  • Flag scope deviations and their impact on timelines, budgets and priorities
  • Validate installation conformity with imec’s standards and guidelines through reviews, inspections and supporting records
  • Provide safety oversight and follow up contractor actions on safety and quality findings
  • Keep internal stakeholders and external partners informed
  • Escalate risks and non-conformities, track corrective actions and review evidence for installation acceptance
