Job Title: Florida Site Director

Location: Florida, United States 

Role Overview

The Florida Site Director will lead imec’s strategic operations in Florida, overseeing cross-functional teams in microwave, RF (RF) and superconducting digital (SCD) domains, and ensuring alignment with imec’s global innovation roadmap. This role is pivotal in driving stakeholder engagement, operational excellence, and team cohesion across technical, operational, and program management functions.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Define and execute the site’s strategic direction in coordination with especially imec’s Connected Computing leadership.
  • Lead and mentor subteam leaders (e.g., RF and SCD) and the acting Operational Program Manager.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance site identity and culture aligned with imec’s matrix leadership model.
  • Find, build, and maintain strategic partnerships with industry, academia, and government entities, partnering with the business development and partnership organizations

Operational Oversight

  • Ensure efficient day-to-day operations, including office space, and access management.
  • Enable smooth laboratory operations by coordinating modifications to utilities and infrastructure required for equipment functionality.
  • Review and approve annual budgets and purchase orders in alignment with site goals and financial policies.

Talent & Culture

  • Participate in interviews and selection processes for new personnel.
  • Promote a pleasant and inclusive work environment that supports employee well-being and productivity.
  • Organize site events to foster team cohesion and celebrate milestones.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary liaison with local and national stakeholders, including government, academic, and industry partners.
  • Represent imec Florida in strategic forums and NSF engagements.
  • Participate in internal committee and board meetings to align site operations with broader organizational goals.
  • Lead community outreach initiatives to strengthen imec’s local presence and impact.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in site leadership or senior operational roles within high-tech or research environments.
  • Strong understanding of RF, SCD, or advanced packaging technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent communication, tactical and organizational skills.

Preferred Attributes

  • Familiarity with U.S. strategic industries (e.g., defense, aerospace).
  • Prior engagement with NSF or similar research funding bodies.
  • Ability to navigate internal dynamics and foster team alignment.
  • Experience working in matrixed organizations
