As a Director of FAIN Engineering, you lead the department responsible for the concept, design, engineering and delivery of imec’s cleanroom, lab, office and utility infrastructure.

What you will do

As Director of FAIN Engineering, you report to the FAIN Director in Imec. In this role you have strategic leadership over a department which is responsible for the system concept/design, system engineering & project management of facilities and infrastructure projects related to the cleanrooms, labs, office and utility buildings in imec. 

Specifically:

  • You lead the Project Management Office, a team of project managers leading major facilities and infrastructure projects
  • You lead the Electrical & Instrumentation and Mechanical Engineering teams (covering gases, cooling water, HVAC, high purity water, wastewater treatment, gas detection, electricity, automation, …) that manage, implement and improve the concept of each discipline. As a manager, you are also their technical coach. 
  • As a member of the FAIN management team, you will contribute to the design and implementation of the strategy for the FAIN department. In that sense, you are for example a major contributor to the Infrastructure and Campus Master Plan of the Leuven site and ensure an annual update and the implementation of that plan.
  • You lead the Drawing & Documentation team and ensure, amongst others, the further development of the imec 3D-BIM Model.
  • Together with your team you connect to the safety, sustainability and quality standards and ambitions of Imec. Imec is a light Seveso company. 
  • Uptime of the facilities is particularly important for the cleanrooms. You ensure that a design and execution secure reliability and high up-time. 
  • You will be responsible for the OPEX/CAPEX budget of the Engineering department, as well as for the output of each project (budget, scope, planning, safety, quality, ...). You provide reporting to management and stakeholders. 
  • You will focus on optimizing existing and developing new work processes including the project process (PMO), management of change process (MOC), resource & portfolio management, quality management, documentation management, ... for this you work closely with the PMO lead. 
  • Together with the Director of FAIN Operations, you will be responsible you meet the requirements of operations in projects to enable optimisation of the life cycle of the imec installation. 
  • You actively build your network within and outside imec to ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly. Your main stakeholders are engineering offices, contractors, FAIN Operations, Cleanroom & Lab management, the EHS (environment, health & safety) department, Finance, Legal and Procurement.

Education, Experience, and Technical Competencies:

  • You have a Master's degree in a technical field.
  • You have already held a similar position for several years in a high-tech and/or production environment. This previous experience, as well as your thorough knowledge of facilities (gases, cooling water, HVAC, high purity water, wastewater treatment, gas detection, electricity, automation...), make you a technical coach for the team leaders and employees in your department. 
  • Having strong experience with setting up technical concepts and standards is a plus. 
  • Your experience in managing large and small construction and technical projects results in projects who are safely executed and financially, qualitatively and schedule wise under control.
