The team 

The META group is a key player in the Fab organization of imec, responsible for wafer level electrical test in imec. The team delivers characterization services to the R&D organization by providing automatic test applications plus hardware and software support on lab and cleanroom test systems. We contribute directly to the success of many research programs in imec. 
The Application Support Engineer in the Electrical Test Lab provides technical support for internal teams requiring electrical testing services. This role acts as a liaison between test requestors and lab staff, ensuring accurate test execution, data collection, and system functionality. This person will support internal customers with test applications, tools, and workflows. You also do resource planning and make sure supporting processes in the labs are correctly planned and communicated to all stakeholders, the yearly calibration of the electrical instruments is such a key process. tion makes imec a top player in its field. What you will do

  • Coordinate and support electrical testing activities by serving as the main contact for test requests, reviewing submissions for accuracy, selecting appropriate setups and tools, and monitoring test execution to ensure quality and issue resolution. 
  • Manage technical operations and documentation, including maintaining detailed records of test setups and results, overseeing instrument calibration planning, and ensuring lab compliance with safety and calibration standards. 
  • Enable internal team success through user training on test systems and tools, as well as supporting logistical projects such as tool relocation and lab setup adjustments

Who you are

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or other technical field. 
  • ~5 years of experience in a test engineering, application support, or lab environment. 
  • Basic understanding of electrical measurement principles and test instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power supplies, DAQs, etc.). 
  • Some familiarity with test automation tools. 
  • Knowledge of wafer testing methods is a plus. 
  • Strong communication and organizing skills. 
  • You are customer oriented and service minded. 
  • Ability to manage multiple support requests and prioritize based on urgency and impact. 
  • You are capable of identifying process improvements and can implement them. 
  • Experience in a product development or R&D lab environment is a plus.
