Data spaces in health & wellbeing

The Belgian Data Spaces Alliance (www.dataspacesalliance.be) is a new initiative of 8 organisations – Agoria, imec, KU Leuven, Digitaal Vlaanderen, paradigm brussels, Agence du Numérique, Vlaams Datanutsbedrijf and SolidLab – that aims to stimulate and support data space activities in Belgium. Many sectors can benefit from data spaces, but the health and wellbeing domain has certainly seen a lot of activity in other EU countries, and we are convinced that this would be highly relevant in Belgium as well.

Therefore, we are starting a sectorial work group on data spaces in health and wellbeing. We have identified you as a stakeholder in this domain. The main aim will be to take an ecosystem of interested parties through the various steps that are necessary for connecting an ecosystem to a data space. We will therefore focus on building a common understanding on data spaces. Additionally, we will generate use cases, implement use case pilots, and identify funding opportunities for these use cases.

Every session will focus on one of these aspects, during which Sciensano and imec will be the moderators. In a first session, we aim to build a common understanding of data spaces and highlight a few examples in Flanders, Belgium and the EU.
