What you will do

We are looking for a Signal Processing Researcher to expand our team and the photonics activities in Eindhoven. Together with your colleague you will contribute to the R&D work for 3D Sensing, Automotive, and Healthcare domains by means of (statistical) modeling, with a focus on LiDAR (sub)-systems, with corresponding algorithms and control loops.

Together with external partners and internal photonic groups in imec Belgium, we aim to extend our research capabilities into combining Silicon and Indium Phosphide photonics area for Connectivity, and Industrial (f.i. LiDAR) applications and Health thereby leveraging our existing competences. To help us achieve this goal, we are looking for a Signal Processing Researcher (Photonics) to work on photonic integrated systems.

Your main responsibilities as a Signal Processing Researcher are:

  • Extend our simulation framework and (sub)-system models based on theory or reference/test data. Use these models to support architectural decisions and optimize the system’s performance;
  • Work on the architecture specifications and design of sub-systems such as PLLs; Receivers, Transmitters, and Digital Baseband thereby efficiently connecting different optical components such as lasers, photodiodes etc;
  • Take end-to-end responsibility of Photonic systems - architecture development, specification, design, evaluation, and demonstrations;
  • Develop (novel) algorithms and solutions for signal processing, including synchronization, compensation of non-idealities, calibration, error estimation and correction;
  • Support the specification process of hardware, software, and electronics, and circulate the requirements to subsystems as needed;
  • Work with internal and external partners for prototype design, test & validation;
  • Leverage and implement photonic and other technologies from other imec sites;
  • Your work is disseminated as inventions, publications, key technology, or directly to customers.

What we do for you
