Senior Software Engineer

What you will do

As a Senior Software Engineer you work in close collaboration with engineers and researchers from different disciplines (electronics, algorithms, biomedical, and sensors). You will be responsible for the design and implementation of modelling and simulation software by combining cutting-edge research results with state-of-the-art components. You will support a team of Biomedical Researchers to fulfil the software needs and contribute to our research in smart implantables, artificial organs and neuro-stimulations domains.   

In this position we need you to be part of our interdisciplinary team to:     

  • Develop reusable modelling & simulation frameworks to create insightful biomedical models.
  • Perform SW test & validation  on frameworks and models.
  • Visualize simulation results in a clear and efficient manner.
  • Program in C++ and Python;.
  • Interact with internal users (understand their needs) and provide support.
  • Document your design and implementation; according to the applicable (medical device) software life cycle processes .

Who you are

“Must-haves” (essential skills): 

  • MSc in Computer Science; or acquired equivalent level with minimal experience of 5 years in relevant software development. 
  • Experience in building software tools & frameworks along with complex signal processing algorithms.
  • Experience in development and validation of modelling tools, including open-source and used in academic environment.
  • Ability to improve and integrate 3rd party and legacy software.
  • Proven experience and interest in simulation & data visualization. 
  • Experience with programming languages C++ and Python.
  • Experience with time-series signals/data.
  • Experience with SW development practices: Git, code reviews, Continuous Integration, unit testing.
  • Team player with passion for technology and relevant subject domain problems beyond SW.
  • Conceptual thinker with ability to propose (new) solutions and vividly explain your domain expertise to other domain experts.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

Could have’s (it is nice to tick a few of the boxes): 

  • PhD in Computer Science or similar education.
  • Affinity with applied research in the domains of Health and Wireless sensing. 
  • Experience with real-time data processing. 
  • Affinity and/or experience with some modelling concepts and tools: Finite Element Modelling (COMSOL), Simulink, Neuron etc.
  • Exhibit leadership skills and passion for knowledge sharing.
