Researcher Photonics for Health
What you will do
As a Researcher Photonics, you will contribute to developing
photonic applications for health solutions. This starts with building and
modifying optical set-ups like interferometers, OCT configurations, and
spectral analyzers. With these set-ups, you validate concepts for new clinical measurement
methods. You contribute to our health research program by exploring optical
techniques for measurements on the human body, validating them, and defining
specifications for further technology development into integrated photonics.
Your
responsibilities include:
- Developing optical and photonic methods and configurations for sensing on and in the human body;
- Developing technology by designing and making prototypes yourself and along with suppliers;
- Leveraging photonic and other technology from another imec research sites;
- Setting up and performing experiments to validate concepts and prototypes;
- Your work is disseminated as inventions, publications, key technology, or directly to customers.
What we do for you
By joining the Health
Research team in Eindhoven, you will be part of a team of disruptive innovators
and thinkers. Together, with our Researchers and Engineers, you will work on implants
and companions for artificial organs to develop building blocks for autonomous
closed - loop care. The same team is developing methods to non-invasively
measure body functions and conditions. Imec the Netherlands is part of the
larger imec organization where we have wafer-scale manufacturing including photonic
integrated circuits (PICs). We invite you to be part of our ambitious team
where your ideas will have an impact on our society and our future lives.
Who you are
- MSc with 4+ years of experience or Ph.D. in physics, photonics or equivalent with a few years of experience.
- Driven to develop theoretical and applied knowledge of optical phenomena in interaction with materials and/or tissue is a plus.
- Affiliation with biomedical applications and multiphysical systems development is a plus.
- Affinity to design by evidence, for example by using mathematical and simulation tools, or validation on models.
- Flexible team player, actively helping other team members, you see changes as an opportunity to learn and grow.
- Quick learner, to be able and interested in acquiring new skills and competencies.
- Hands-on attitude. Being able to get results in an uncertain research process.
- Taking responsibility for the process of modeling, low-profile validation experiments, development, and validation, including communication and alignment with different imec-internal stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
