As a Researcher Laser Design and Test you will be part of the new photonics team at our Eindhoven site. You will work with other researchers and engineers to bring imec's research efforts to life and to make real-life designs and tangible prototypes. There are many fields in which low-noise narrow linewidth and tunable lasers are interesting (think of swept source OCT, long-range LiDAR, high bandwidth telecom), however, tuning a laser counteracts the narrowing of the linewidth. But how much? That is one of the topics you will focus on in this position. Besides, there are many aspects that add noise to systems: the temperature control, the tuning elements themselves, environmental influence, etc. You will join the laser-expertise center, that focuses on external cavity hybrid integrated lasers.
