Researcher, High-Frequency Analog IC Design

Imec is developing next-generation high-frequency integrated circuits for wireless communication systems (5G and beyond-5G), highly integrated mm-wave radars, and non-traditional computation and processing systems. We are looking for a high-frequency analog IC designer to work on the next generation of integrated circuits in advanced CMOS, SiGe, and III-V technologies. 

Here's what you'll do:

  • Define the architecture of the IC
  • Define system and block-level specifications from application requirements
  • Design schematic and layout of building blocks such as LNA, PA, Mixer, VCO, PLL, ADC, DAC etc.
  • Provide all the deliverables in time to meet the tape-out deadlines
  • Validate your own designs experimentally in a lab environment
  • Document ideas, design details, and measurement results
  • Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions
  • Read journal papers, attend conferences, and submit your research work for peer-reviewed publications

Key Qualifications

  • Strong background in analog, RF, and mm-wave IC design
  • Proficient in mm-wave IC design tools such as Cadence, ADS, HFSS, MATLAB
  • Tape-out experience in advanced process technology nodes
  • Understanding and experience in IC design for non-traditional computing platforms is a plus
  • Experience performing mm-wave measurements in the lab
  • Good publication record demonstrating research experience
  • A Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant field, or Master’s degree plus 5 years of relevant experience in a research environment
  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
