Program Manager Optical I/O Technology

What you will do

Your work is at the cross-roads of advanced R&D, project execution and partner interface. You will be responsible for the integrated photonics technology developments required to enable future computing systems that will leverage the advantage of optical data transmission and / or optical data processing. In this role, you will work primarily with the Optical I/O program director and the Optical I/O system program manager to implement the Optical I/O program roadmap into an executable plan. You are responsible for the execution of the program technology development plans with respect to schedule, budget and content. You are inspiring the team and you are the primary technology interface with the program partners with your process technology and integration knowledge and expertise. Whereas imec has already built up a track record in the field of integrated silicon photonics, various material, process and integration innovations as well as novel packaging concepts are needed to continue device and system scaling.

In this job, your main tasks will be:

  • Together with the Optical I/O program director and Optical I/O Insite program manager, you translate the program system and device roadmap and deliverables into an executable plan for technology development. The 12-18 months plans will have detailed milestones with clear timeline, budget and success criteria.
  • You will setup and lead cross-functional teams to develop new integration schemes to push the state of the art in integrated photonics technology.
  • You will be the end-to-end responsible for the Optical I/O program deliverables focusing on silicon technology development.
  • You will organize the reporting of the deliverables to the program partners through program meetings, bilateral interactions with the partners and during the bi-annual program technical week.
  • You will interface with the imec fab organization and process step development organization management to plan and organize the work for the team. You may resolve conflicts with your peer managers without seeking direct escalation to senior management.
  • You will report internally the progress towards the program objectives to senior management, with respect to success criteria, timeline and budget. You will escalate what you cannot resolve with your peers.
