Postdoctoral Researcher – Theory of Quantum Systems and Quantum Computers

What you will do

KU Leuven and Imec are looking for a unique candidate to support their effort to develop scalable quantum computing systems. As part of the EOS (Excellence of Science, funding: FWO-FNRS) project ‘CHEQS – Creating Highly Entangled Quantum States’, we are hiring a postdoctoral researcher who will support the theoretical modeling aspects of the project.

The aim of the project is to increase our understanding of highly entangled states in near term, physical quantum computing platforms, and to use those insights to create scalable error correction protocols. Therefore, candidates with a background of theoretical modeling of quantum systems, quantum control or a deep background of theoretical quantum computing and error correction will be considered.

The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with senior staff scientists and will be offered the opportunity to mentor graduate and PhD students. The candidate will be affiliated with KU Leuven and located at imec. They will work closely with and within the imec quantum computing team, which is striving to develop fully scalable, state-of-the-art qubits, leveraging unique experimental and processing capabilities.

What we do for you

We offer you the opportunity to join one of the world’s premier research centers in nanotechnology at its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. With your talent, passion and expertise, you’ll become part of a team that makes the impossible possible. Together, we shape the technology that will determine the society of tomorrow.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and proud of our open, multicultural, and informal working environment with ample possibilities to take initiative and show responsibility.
