Photonic Integrated Circuit Measurement Intern (2021 Summer)

Imec USA is looking for a graduate-level Photonic Integrated Circuit Engineer for an optical communication project.

What you will do

In this role you will be responsible for measurements of high-speed optical modulators.
Your responsibilities include:

  • Developing automated routines and protocols for optical and RF measurements of hybrid high speed optical modulator devices, and measure test chips.
  • Participating in imec wafer run to verify the in-house designed components.
  • Reporting to colleagues and clients.
  • Publishing in international journals and contributing to major conferences.

Key Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant master’s or PhD program in a top university in a relevant discipline such as Solid State Optics, Photonics, Applied Physics or Physics. Senior PhD students are encouraged to apply.
  • Familiar with photonic components and can design basic passive devices from scratch.
  • Familiar with optical measurements of passive and/or active integrated photonic devices.
  • Photonic RF characterization experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in R&D environments with successful publications, patents or both is preferred.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
