Field Test Engineer

What you will do

As a Field Test Engineer, you are our brains, ears, and hands in the field. We are performing measurements throughout the Netherlands in greenhouses, fields, farms and nature areas. We need you to be part of our interdisciplinary team to:

  • Perform and support field measurement sessions. About 50% of your time will be dedicated to day trips to field locations.
  • Take care of the deployment and maintenance of our multi-sensor networks in the field for air quality measurements.
  • Perform first-line repairs & maintenance.
  • Prepare field measurement sessions with our hand-held water quality sensors.
  • Perform factory acceptance tests; planning; maintaining the stock of consumables.
  • Train/instruct end users (for instance hydrologists or farmers) on how to operate the prototype (water and air quality measurement) devices. Supervise their work and collect lessons and opportunities for upcoming developments.
  • Test, characterize, and evaluate the performance of sensor networks (and troubleshoot if needed).
  • Work together in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure quality and effective implementation of the network.

Who you are

We are looking for a highly motivated person with the following assets: 

  • MBO, HBO, or equivalent experience in a relevant field (engineering and/or environmental science).
  • Experience in the deployment of wireless sensor networks and electronics.
  • Proven hands-on, can-do attitude is a must.
  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.
  • Experience in data analysis is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with low-power embedded solutions for environmental measurement is a plus.
  • Driver licence B is a must.
