As scaling advanced CMOS technology becomes nowadays increasingly challenging, the optimization of the technology together with circuits and systems is more than ever essential to maintain performance increase together with power/area reduction in the next generations of chips. Many complex technology options are considered, and various device architectures are optimized for a certain application range (logic, memory, analog/RF,...). The system architectures are themselves revisited, enabling a closer and more efficient interaction between various functional blocks. More disruptive compute paradigms are explored, e.g., spin logic or quantum computers. To assess these new and future technology options at circuit and system levels, ad hoc compact models must be developed. These models should preserve the device physics and capture the essence of the technology.
In this job, you will develop such compact models for advanced and future devices. You will derive the mathematical formulation that represents the physics of the problem. The models will be funded on experiments and/or TCAD/ab initio calculations and they will include all relevant effects (depending on the application: parasitics, cryo operation, distortion...). You will incorporate the models in PDK to enable the system level exploration. You will work in the device modelling team, and you will interact closely with circuit designers, technologist, and process integration engineers.

- You have obtained a PhD in electrical engineering.
- We appreciate your good knowledge of device physics, technology, and basic circuit design
