Development Engineer Electronic Testing

What you will do

Performance enhancements by miniaturization is a driving force in many electronics applications. In this perspective, Imec develops state-of-the-art device and system integration technologies. This results in components with particular functionalities and form factors which, in their turn, require continuous innovation in automated modeling, characterization and testing. To support these activities, we are looking for a development engineer in electronic testing and automation.

You work in a team of about ten people but share and provide your expertise to the entire Advanced Reliability Robustness & Testing (AR²T) department, working with not only with researchers and scientists, but also hardware engineers, device and process experts.

As a specialist, you will be responsible for developing, executing and reporting analysis and measurement routines. For this activity, you work partially in imec’s renowned 300mm cleanroom; where you are supported by experienced technical colleagues. You optimize the test routines in function of the tested devices and develop tools for automated data treatment, analysis and modelling. You share and apply your acquired knowledge of electronic testing in support of the entire department: you will apply your profound and structured programmer’s skillset to provide or enhance existing software solutions for data treatment, simulation frameworks, and so on.

What we do for you

We offer you the opportunity to join one of the world’s premier research centers in nanotechnology at its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. With your talent, passion and expertise, you’ll become part of a team that makes the impossible possible. Together, we shape the technology that will determine the society of tomorrow.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and proud of our open, multicultural, and informal working environment with ample possibilities to take initiative and show responsibility. We commit to supporting and guiding you in this process; not only with words but also with tangible actions. Through imec.academy, 'our corporate university', we actively invest in your development to further your technical and personal growth.

We are aware that your valuable contribution makes imec a top player in its field. Your energy and commitment are therefore appreciated by means of a competitive salary with many fringe benefits.

Who you are

  • You have at least a bachelor’s degree, but we value your master’s degree in engineering.
  • Knowledge of Python programming language to process data and control hardware equipment is a must.
  • You are eager to do hands-on work in the measurement labs in support of various research programs which you will report to.
  • You seek for opportunities to optimize and automate processes; you develop solutions that are thorough and all-encompassing.
  • You can work independently and translate requests from the research programs into practical applications.
  • You have notions of typical semiconductor fabrication processes; we see your knowledge in the domain of electronic and/or functional testing as an asset.
  • You are a team player with good networking and communication skills to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.
  • Given the international character of imec, we see your profound knowledge of English as a must.
