What we want to achieve

The use of the innovative design methodology will offer the user companies significant benefits in terms of:

  • Advanced methodology for designing highly complex and reconfigurable telecommunication SoCs. This will have a direct benefit for the partner companies since their main activity is in developing telecommunication products.
  • Greater productivity by leveraging of designer efforts through the systematic reusing of know-how. Such know-how takes the form of experience, skills, and design solutions, reasoning about designs, part designs and prototype tools. The know-how is being accumulated in the companies, forming an intellectual asset, or property (IP)
  • Early use of leading edge reconfigurable silicon technology in the market domain where the partner companies are highly active. This will increase the adaptivity of the designed products not only to changes in evolving communication standards but as well to changes in operational and user environments.
  • Achievement of significant performance gains over purely software implementations of communication algorithms via use of implementations of critical parts of the algorithm on the reconfigurable parts of the SoC.

Technology transfer will be performed by the ADRIATIC project towards local and European telecommunication systems design community. The methodology that will be developed during the ADRIATIC project will be of immediate interest to a large number of companies active in the telecommunication system products via development of complex telecommunication SoCs. Intense dissemination activities will take place inside the partners' organisations in regards with the methodologies to design reconfigurable chips. Moreover, the resulting methodology will be presented to European Electronic Chips & Systems Design Initiative (ECSI), international technical meetings and to international symposiums.
